Ah!!!! The memories of the Hawaiian Cottage. I don't remember the outside because it was always dark when we got there. We would go to see Jerry Vale, Liberace (the only 2 I can remember) and others for dinner and a show. I would go with my mom, aunt and uncle. We had to have been there at least 4 times over the years. :)

After going through a box of "mom's" glassware and "trinkets" and came across 8 of the tiki mugs of 2 different colors, a dark brown and a lighter yellow/brown which were wrapped in newspaper, like the mug on the left in your photo. I have a photo (someone would walk around with a camera for "souvenir" photos) from at least 1967. I also have 8 mugs but I never put them in a box or stored them. They're in the '50s German stereo/bar.

Thanks for the memories.

I had the Fortress Of Fangs as a kid, but it was the only D&D toy I owned. I got it for Christmas sometime in the early 80's, probably '84 if I had to guess. I say I got it, it may have been technically gifted to my brother but we shared our toys and he grew out of them a little prematurely (he thought he was too cool for toys by the time he was 10) and then they were ALL mine. Since I don't recall us ever being interested in anything D&D (I didn't know there was even a cartoon until I read this article and we didn't play RPGs), and nobody else I knew had any D&D toys, I'm guessing my mom probably found it on clearance or something and correctly assumed we'd like it. Or maybe she thought it was He-Man related, around the same time my brother and I got Castle Grayskull and Snake Mountain (respectively) for Christmas. I don't think I ever used it as a He-Man playset, they weren't the right scale as I recall, but I used it with my Star Wars and G.I. Joe figures. It just popped into my mind after 20 years of forgetting about it, and for some reason I thought it was a D&D toy, but I didn't know for sure because I don't think I'd heard of D&D back then and I wasn't even sure they made a toy line. But a Google search later there it was staring me in the face, it seemed much larger back then though.
