The memories of the Hawaiian Cottage. I don’t remember the outside because it was always dark when we got there. We would go to see Jerry Vale, Liberace (the only 2 I can remember) and others for dinner and a show. I would go with my mom, aunt and uncle. We had to have been there at least 4 times over the years. :)

After going through a box of “mom’s” glassware and “trinkets” and came across 8 of the tiki mugs of 2 different colors, a dark brown and a lighter yellow/brown which were wrapped in newspaper, like the mug on the left in your photo. I have a photo (someone would walk around with a camera for “souvenir” photos) from at least 1967. I also have 8 mugs but I never put them in a box or stored them. They’re in the ’50s German stereo/bar.

I actually mention the Hawaiian Cottage to people quite often when reminiscing. My sister and I had dinner there with our parents when we were young. And it made such an impression on me. We were always so thrilled to drive by the pineapple domed restaurant. Spongebob eat your heart out. Lol.

Not much in itself except that my father was a cook there in the 1950’s and the mention of the restaurant certainly gave me goose bumps.
